Pre-competition anxiety is a very normal process in athletes' life and it will impact on the athlete’s performance either in a positive way, increasing their performance level or in a negative way, making the athlete perform very poorly. This correlational study predicted that positive Self-Talk would decrease the anxiety before competing and the negative reaction to imperfection would increase the anxiety. To measure these variables, this study used the HEXACO-60 for reaction to imperfection, Sport Competition Anxiety Test (SCAT) for anxiety in athletes and the Self-Talk Scale for the levels of self-talk. Predicted results will be discussed further on.
